A SHORT
introduction

Set in the summer months in Setesdal, the programme combines outdoor adventure with hands-on skill development across multiple disciplines. Participants begin with survival training, campcraft, and navigation before progressing to high-energy activities such as zip lining, white-water rafting, kayaking, and rock climbing. The expedition concludes with a two-day mountain trek/river canoeing/kayaking trip featuring overnight stays in tents or huts, providing practical experience in route-finding, camp setup, and expedition management.

Daily instruction covers safety, technical skills, and group coordination, while evening briefings encourage reflection and preparation for the following day. Optional sessions allow participants to tailor the programme to their interests and skill levels. Varied terrain, rivers, and forests provide a dynamic environment for developing practical outdoor skills.

By the end of the week, participants leave with hands-on experience in navigation, teamwork, and expedition planning, equipped to confidently undertake multi-day mountain adventures.

Each itinerary is entirely bespoke, with the flexibility to add or remove activities, adjust intensity, or refine pacing to suit your group’s preferences. Experiences can also be aligned with your mission or objectives, whether that is team building, leadership development, collaborative problem-solving or tailored adventures for student groups of all ages.

This custom focus comes at no additional cost, with price adjustments only for luxury or budget-dependent options.

IMPORTANT
CONSIDERATIONS

Flight prices: Flight prices from the UK (or relevant departure point) may increase depending on how close to the departure date you book. 
Equipment provided: All technical and safety equipment required for the activities is provided. Technical equipment includes climbing, paddling, and camping gear. Participants should also bring a cooking pot, and a list of clothing and other personal items will be sent prior to travel. A kit list will be sent in advance so participants know what to bring personally.
Instruction/Guide: A qualified instructor or guide accompanies the group for the duration of the trip, providing guidance, supervision, and instruction. Training is customised to activities.
Accommodation: Accommodation is provided in wooden cabins and wild camping/huts for 1 night, with facilities such as shower, toilet, heating, and self-catering kitchen.
Meals: Meals included in the itinerary are breakfast, packed lunch, and dinner. For multi-day expeditions or overnight stays in remote locations, participants may need to prepare their own meals in the wild camping huts.
Experience/Fitness: Participants must be physically fit and able to carry a rucksack weighing approximately 15 kg during multi-day expeditions. No previous experience is required.
Evening briefings/skills sessions: Evening skills sessions and briefings are included each day, covering topics such as mountain hazards, navigation, survival skills, and emergency shelter construction.
Flexibility disclaimer: Every effort will be made to adhere to the itinerary, but conditions such as weather, terrain, or group fitness may necessitate changes.
Certificates/CPD: Participants may receive an Adventure1 achievement certificate upon completion. For applicable courses, additional accreditation (e.g., Mountain Leader/Canoe Sport) may also be available for participants who meet the prerequisites.
Optional/Location-Specific Notes: Airport transfers in Norway are included. All permits and local logistics are managed by the Expedition Leader.

WHAT'S
NOT INCLUDED

Flights: Return flights from the UK to Norway are not included. Participants may arrange their own flights, or we can assist with flight bookings upon request.
Transfers/Local Transport: Transfers in the UK or Norway, including airport transfers, taxis, or public transport, are not included unless specified otherwise.
Meals & Drinks: Over-the-counter food and drinks are not included. For the night(s) spent during the expedition or camping phase, participants are responsible for providing dinner, breakfast, and lunch. You will have the opportunity to source meals from local shops where applicable.
Personal Travel & Activity Insurance: Participants are responsible for arranging their own insurance covering travel, activities, and emergency evacuation.
Personal Expenses: Items of a personal nature, such as souvenirs, laundry, phone charges, or optional activities not listed in the itinerary, are not included.
Visas/Entry Fees: Any visa costs, permits, or entry fees required for travel to Norway are not included.
