A SHORT
introduction

Spanning ten days on Thailand’s Koh Chang, this expedition immerses participants in rainforest trekking, coastal kayaking, and hands-on tropical adventure.

The journey begins with preparation and skill-building, learning to navigate the jungle, set up camps, and practise essential survival techniques before applying these skills on treks to local waterfalls. Multi-day rainforest trekking under the guidance of local experts develops navigation, camp management, and survival experience, while kayaking along remote stretches of coastline allows exploration of hidden bays and beaches. Cultural and wildlife encounters, including visits to temples and elephant sanctuaries, complement the adventure. Evenings feature reflections and briefings to consolidate skills and share experiences.

By the end of the expedition, participants leave with strengthened survival abilities, confidence in tropical environments, and lasting memories of Koh Chang’s jungle and coastal wilderness.

basic training
& expedition preparation

The day focuses on training and preparation for the jungle trekking expedition. Participants are briefed on safety, local flora and fauna, equipment usage, and jungle hazards. Kit checks are conducted, and skills such as setting up hammocks, tarpaulins, and camp cooking are practised. The day concludes with a short trek to Klong Plu Waterfall on Koh Chang to apply these skills in a natural setting.

EXPEDITION
PHASE

The expedition phase begins with two or more days of jungle trekking in Koh Chang under the guidance of a local National Park guide and the expedition leader. Participants practise navigation, camp setup, group management, and survival techniques. Hammocks and tarpaulin shelters are provided. After trekking, participants undertake kayaking along the west and south coasts of Koh Chang, exploring coastal areas and practicing paddling and safety skills. The kayaking phase culminates in a beachside BBQ featuring freshly caught snapper, king prawns, salad, fruit, and beverages.

IMPORTANT
CONSIDERATIONS

Flight Prices/Transfers: Flight prices from London may increase depending on how close to the departure date you book. Airport transfers in Thailand are included. Minibus travel is provided to and from all venues for the duration of the expedition.
Equipment Provided: All technical and safety equipment required for the activities is provided. A kit list will be sent in advance for clothing and personal items. Technical equipment includes hammocks, tarpaulins, sleeping bags, and paddling gear for the kayaking phase.
Instruction/Guiding: A qualified (British Special Forces) instructor or guide accompanies the group for the duration of the trip, providing guidance, supervision, and instruction. Local National Park guides and the Expedition Leader provide training in navigation, camp setup, survival techniques, group management, paddling and safety skills, and awareness of jungle flora and fauna hazards. Evening briefings and reflections consolidate skills and prepare participants for the following day’s activities.
Accommodation: Accommodation is provided in twin rooms (two beds per room, single supplement available) with facilities including shower and toilet. During the expedition phase, participants stay in hammocks with tarpaulin shelters in the jungle and on coastal treks.
Meals: While in resort accommodation, breakfast and vegetarian lunch packs are included. During the expedition phase, meals are not included, except for the beachside BBQ on the penultimate day.
Experience/Fitness/Age: Participants must be aged 14 and up, should be physically fit and able to take part in the activities. Some days during the expedition phase require carrying a rucksack of approximately 15kg. No prior experience is required as instruction is provided at all levels.
Flexibility/Briefings: Evening briefings and skills sessions are included where relevant, covering topics such as jungle hazards, navigation, survival techniques, and camp management. Every effort will be made to adhere to the itinerary, but conditions such as weather, road access, or group health may necessitate changes.
Certificates/CPD: Participants may receive an Adventure1 achievement certificate upon completion.
Optional/Location-Specific Notes: Optional activities may include jungle hikes, waterfall visits, scuba diving, snorkelling, zip-lining, or visits to sea turtle conservation centres. All local logistics and permits are managed by the Expedition Leader.

WHAT'S
NOT INCLUDED

Flights: Participants may arrange their own flights or request assistance if needed.
Transfers/Local Transport: Transfers in the UK are not included unless explicitly stated or requested. All in-country transport in Thailand is included as part of the itinerary.
Meals & Drinks: Dinner meals are not included whilst staying in resort accommodation, as the group dines in different venues each evening. No meals are provided during the expedition phase - participants will have the opportunity to purchase freeze-dried meals and snacks in resort for use during the expedition phase. Over-the-counter food, drinks, and personal snacks are not included.
Personal Travel & Activity Insurance: Participants are responsible for arranging their own insurance covering travel, activities, and emergency evacuation
Personal Expenses: Items of a personal nature, such as souvenirs, laundry, phone charges, or optional activities not listed in the itinerary, are not included.
Visas/Entry Fees: Any visa costs, permits, or entry fees required for travel to Thailand are not included.
Other Optional Costs: Any other costs not explicitly stated in the itinerary, including the optional activities of extra kayaking sessions, scuba diving, snorkelling or the visit to a sea turtle conservation centre.
