A SHORT
introduction
Participants will spend eight days in southern Norway combining downhill skiing with a range of winter mountain activities. Skiing at Hovden resort and at our base in Bykle, just south of Hovden, is instructed and guided by experts and tailored to all ability levels, while optional sessions include downhill and cross-country skiing, avalanche training, and igloo building with an overnight stay in either an igloo or mountain cabin.
The programme also features a full day of dog sledding through forest trails and over frozen lakes, along with ice climbing on nearby frozen waterfalls, providing hands-on experience in full winter conditions. Instruction focuses on technique, safety, and group management, helping participants build confidence and competence on varied terrain.
Evenings include briefings and reflection sessions to consolidate learning and prepare for the following day. Optional cultural experiences, such as a visit to the Heroes of Telemark museum, complement the adventure activities. By the end of the week, participants leave with improved skiing skills, enhanced winter awareness, and the ability to travel safely in Norway’s mountains.
