Jungle trekking & kayaking

The aim of the Adventure1 trip to Thailand is to complete 2 or more days trekking in the Koh Chang Jungle, where you will be accompanied by a local National Park Guide and Jerry Dolan, Company Director and jungle leader. Prior to the trek, you will be given a study sheet so you can brush up on local do and don’t subjects, flora and fauna, map and a list of things to bring. On arrival there will be a jungle hazards presentation by Jerry, which will be followed by a group kit check and packing session, any discrepancies would then then rectified. Then the day will end with a short trek to the beautiful Klong Plu waterfall where you can practice erecting their hammocks and water proof covers, cookers and gas canisters.
The trek will be followed by a day of scuba diving off one of the other nearby islands, then two days of kayaking along the west and south coast of Koh Chang, culminating in a BBQ of day fresh snapper, prawns, salad, fruit and beverages just a few metres from the lapping waves.
Weather systems are not as ferocious as one would be led to believe of the monsoon seasons in Thailand, on our trips a typical day was to wake up with the rain and by mid morning it had abated, followed by warmth and sunny spells. Then during the evening at around 7-8 the rain came again, by then, hammocks were up and sleep routine began again. Temperatures ranged from 25c in the morning and around 30c during the day.

Outline itinerary:
Day 1: Fly from London to Bangkok 11 hours
Day 2: Arrive in Bangkok mid day and travel to either Krabi (optional Kayaking for D of E) or Koh Chang (optional Trekking for D of E).
Day 3: Basic training and preparation for the sea kayak or trekking expedition phase.
Day 4-7: Expedition phase.
Day 8: The optional adventure activities take place either in Koh Chang or Ao Nang.
Day 9: Adventure activities continued and return to Bangkok that evening.
Day 10: Fly to UK arriving mid day in UK.
Notes:

Flights from UK to Bangkok arriving around mid day, including 30kg of hold luggage. Prices may increase as time passes.

Minibus travel from and to all venues for the duration.

Two beds in each room, breakfast whilst in accommodation. Single supplement is £23 per night.

Whilst trekking or kayaking, hammocks, tarps, sleeping bags and food for the duration: 4 x lunches, 3 x dinners, 3 x breakfasts, emergency rations, kit list will be provided.

If the group elect to move to Ao Nang for other adventure activities, there will be a flight to Krabi the day after the expeditions on Koh Chang. In which case there would be a supplement of £100 per person.

Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary, but as this is Adventure Travel in a remote mountain region, we cannot guarantee it. Weather conditions, road conditions, vehicle breakdowns and the health of climbers can all contribute to changes. The Expedition Leader and our local agent will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but an easy going nature will be an asset!

Lunch and dinner meals are not included whilst in the resort as we dine in different venues each evening.

No meals on expedition phases including the kayaking, except for the beach BBQ or if we deploy to Krabi and Ao Nang. There will be an opportunity to shop for freeze dried meals in resort for the expeditions in Koh Chang.
